Phenotype
Reduced cell division throughout development; increase in cell expansion compensates the reduction in cell division; light-grown plants exhibit a rotundifolia-like leaf shape (round leaves); dark-grown seedlings have short hypocotyls (because of a reduced number of elongated cells) and open hooks typical of light-irradiated seedlings; roots and cotyledons have the appearance of dark-grown wild type; reduced brassinolide responsiveness; stomatal opening is insensitive to inhibition by ABA, and the rate of water loss is greater than from wild type; encodes an alpha subunit of a heterotrimeric GTP-binding protein (G protein).
